About John Ericson

John EricsonJohn Ericson is Associate Professor of horn at Arizona State University and serves on the Advisory Council of the International Horn Society. He has served as Third Horn in the Nashville Symphony and as Principal Horn in the Brevard Music Center Orchestra and has performed with orchestras including the Indianapolis Symphony, the Phoenix Symphony and the Rochester Philharmonic. His solo recordings Canto and Les Adieux are available on the Summit label. Author of over 25 articles and four recently released books, Ericson has published on topics including descant and triple horns, playing the Wagner tuba, embouchure development, the history of the horn in the nineteenth century, and other historical and pedagogical topics. His books and CDs may be purchased from Horn Notes Edition and excerpts from his other publications and teaching materials may be found in his website, Horn Articles Online. A native of Emporia, Kansas, Ericson holds degrees from Indiana University, the Eastman School of Music, and Emporia State University.
